Stade du 5 Juillet 1962 is a football stadium in the city of Algiers. Is the name of the day of Algeria declared its independence from France and is the largest stadium in the country. The stadium opened in 1972, is primarily used to host home games of the national soccer team and MC Alger Algeria, one of the major sports clubs in Algeria. MC Alger was founded in 1921 and won several national championships in football. The record attendance at the stadium was established in 1990, when 120,000 people watched the final of the African Cup of Nations, which was won by the national soccer team after defeating Algeria 1-0 Nigeria.
